Mountain Biking Getting Started All you need is you and a bike that is in reasonable running condition (at the beginning of the day anyway).
So you are ready, you have your bike, your friends and your phone. Its always a good idea to carry a phone as you never know what can happen. Your Mum will never forgive herself from this moment on for that little Christmas present as she is going to now begin to get allot of phone calls.
I peace of advice. If you are new to this sport practice in an area free from other human activity as the general public tend not to like being used as test obstacles.
A wood is an ideal place to start whether it is for trails, downhill or XC. You can find it all in most woods.
Basic practice A warm up is essential. Just practice riding over and/or around small obstacles lying around the forest floor and judge the balance of you and your bike. Remember neither the bike or the rider can function without the other.
Moving on up! Don't try and rush things, that is the first rule with Mountain Biking. Just use your commonsense and don't attempt things that you don't think that you can do. It normally ends up with a night in the casualty department.
Conclusion Before you know it people will begin to see the improvements that you make. It takes many years of experience to ride like the Pro's remember its not always the practice that makes perfect. |
